Lennon’s Imagine Mosaic

There is a place in Central Park called Strawberry Fields, named after The Beatles’ song "Strawberry Fields Forever". The place is located in the western part of the park, near West 72nd Street. Opposite this park entrance are the Dakota Apartments, a building where John Lennon and Yoko Ono used to live. Lennon was murdered in 1980, when returning from Central Park home to the Dakota Apartments.

Here, in Strawberry Fields, there is a black-and-white mosaic with an inscription “Imagine’, which was created and donated to the park by Italian craftsmen from Naples. Next to the mosaic there is a bronze plate with a list of 121 countries that endorse Strawberry Fields as a Garden of Peace.
