A trip to New York: when is the best time to visit?
There is really no bad time to visit New York City, something exciting is always happening here.
As for the weather in New York, the best time to visit is in spring and fall, it might be quite hot in summer because of the high humidity. It might be windy during the winter months. Check the weather forecast for New York City.
If you are visiting from another country and shopping is one of the primary goals of your visit, come to New York City several days before the major holidays: 4th of July Independence Day, Labor Day (the first weekend in September), St. Valentine’s on February 14th, Easter, Memorial Day (last weekend in May). Some of the largest sales events of the year happen between Thanksgiving Day (fourth Thursday in November) and New Years. It is considered that the biggest discounts are on Black Friday (the day right after Thanksgiving).
Check out Calendar of Events. Some people prefer Christmastime, with a skating rink in Central Park, Santa at Macy’s, and others come for a Fashion Week in September, or to visit the Wine Festival in November, or to experience the cherry blossom festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in late April. And the best advice would be to come several times to get a diverse range of positive emotions.
The season at The Metropolitan Opera starts at the end of September and runs until May. Musicals, plays and shows on Broadway are year around in New York. The new shows usually open in fall and spring.
