The United Nations (UN) has 193 member countries. The United Nations in New York City is located on 1st Avenue between 42nd and 46th streets. The UN is open to the public (the entrance is on 46th Street), and there are audio tours in different languages. The tour lasts about 45 minutes, plus the time you spend looking at the exhibits, or when creating your own postage stamps. These can be printed directly at the UN and you can send the postcards with your unique stamps from the UN to your family back home or friends anywhere in the world. Not too many people know this, but you can have lunch at the UN’s Delegates’ Dining Room, the same place where delegates and the UN staff have their lunch. Two mandatory conditions though: 1) you have to make a reservation at least the day before. This is only possible by phone (917) 367-3314 (the sooner the better), and 2) business dress code is required (jackets required for men; jeans, shorts, sneakers and flip-flops not allowed).
