July is a great month for shopping: if you come to New York in July, expect a lot of deals and sales - there are huge discounts right before and after the Independence Day. Learn more about shopping in New York.

Independence Day

Independence Day

The Fourth of July is one of the most favorite holidays in the United States. There are lots of shopping sales right before the Independence Day, so this is a great opportunity to get additional discounts. One of the holiday’s biggest highlights is the beautiful fireworks. It is also known as the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks, and Macy’s has been supporting it since 1958.

Mostly Mozart Festival

A series of concerts with music by Mozart are held at Lincoln Center every summer. See schedule and the list of performers online.

New York Philharmonic concerts in the parks

Similar to the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra holds free concerts in city parks. The schedule is online.

Lincoln Center Festival

One of the most interesting cultural events of the year. Being a multi-ethnic city, New York City is best suited for an international theater festival. Theaters from more than 50 countries participate in the festival every year. You can check the list of participants on the festival's website as well as get the program, dates and ticket information.

Restaurant Week - Summer

Despite the fact that the event is called a week, it is in fact two or sometimes even three weeks. As in winter, hundreds of restaurants have prix-fixe menu of 3 courses: $29 lunch, and dinner for $42. Be sure to visit one of the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week. It is best to reserve a table in advance by calling the restaurant, or by ordering online at the restaurant website or at opentable.com.
